I try to control an additional ventilator in the tubing of the kitchen hood in order to improve performance. The hood has three switches for the three speeds of its own ventilator. These switches have L as their input. I connected each switch output (L) with SW1 to SW3 of the Shelly i4 plus gen 3 and N, L accordingly. I could start and configure the i4 in the shelly app but all switches are always on an do not react to the app‘s button, no matter what position the switches on the hood are. The i4 turns pretty warm and becomes offline after a while. If L and N are reconnected and the switch inputs left empty, it comes back but the buttons still don‘t work. I tried „everything“ including factory reset. Now I only connected the first switch to SW1, the i4 seems not to become hot but still no working buttons. The i4 is brand new, never installed somewhere else before. What‘s left for me to do?

Drop a resistor of 500kΩ to 1MΩ in each of the three wires leading from switch to SW input of the Shelly plus i4. Because the inputs 1-3 are activated now via N potential only, you have to set „reverse input“ in switch configuration menu.

Danke! Ich habe noch drei i4 der ersten Generation im Gebrauch, allerdings als Taster konfiguriert und mit den Shelly 4-fach Bedienfeld. Im Nachhinein habe ich bemerkt, dass es wahrscheinlich reicht, nur das Kabel der Stufe 1 anzuschließen, weil dort auch Spannung anliegt, wenn die anderen Stufen eingeschaltet werden. Oben im Dachgeschoss wird dann ein Shelly 1 plus den zusätzlichen Einschublüfter einschalten. Das mit dem Schalten über N verstehe ich nicht. Der neue I4 hat Klemmen für L und N, und neben L ist noch eine Klemme, an der auch L anliegt. Die Haube schaltet über L, wenn man bei der die Eingänge tauscht, läuft sie höchstwahrscheinlich auch. Wäre das eine Alternative? Beim I4 käme dann halt L auf N an. Aber so einen Widerstand habe ich noch bestimmt irgendwo.

Leider verstehe ich Deine Ausführungen nicht.

Zum Schalten über N-Potential: Das erreichst Du mit dem Einbau des Widerstands - Du musst da nichts weiter beachten. Nur „Reverse Input“ konfigurieren.
