Newbie: need help on what to buy and how to wire (4 shelly switches)

Hello everyone

I'm trying to figure out which shelly(s) I should buy and which cables to run, this is a new kitchen, so the electricity cables can be run as necessary, and the phase can come out of any chosen switch

Basically I need 4 switches
3 x dual gang
1 x Four gang

I have 4 lights that I need to control:

• two of the 2 gang: turn on/off the downlights and mood lights
• the 4 gang -  lights the downlights / mood lights / island lights
• the last button on 4 gang, on the last button I would like to create a script to turn on all the lights
• The other of two gang:  island lights and cabinet lights

In addition to the Shelly wall switches, which Shelly modules do I need for each one? and which cables to send to each one to do the "staircase switching" as well?

Have you looked at the Shelly i4 

behind each one of those buttons you can add a shelly i4  and then for each light, you can have a shelly 1 or shelly 1 pm 

The shelly i4 is in simple terms a device that can send commands to any shelly device to turn them on or off. 

Otherwise, have a look at the wire diagrams

this might give you a better idea on the type of setups you can have. 

for this type of setup, I would use an Shelly i4 and then have them send commands to the other shelly devices to turn on and off the lights

What you saying is, I could use a i4 on the 4 gang switch, not connected to anything but power to the shelly itself, to send commands to the other switches

then on the others I could us like a shelly 1pm or shelly 2pm to connect the Line feed to the lights, and control them on the switch, or remotely from the i4 ?

but for example on my diagram, the 2 gang switches 1 and 2 control the same lights, dont I need to connect them in staircase mode ? or do I just use a single shelly and connect the two touchpads ?

If you going that route this will work. The i4 will send commands to the Shelly 2pm to then turn on and off the light this then needs an action via IP address or you can make a scene to make this work

This leads me to my next question, is this the most optimal way ? since we haven't routed the cables yet, or bought the hardware, now it~s the time to make the right decisions 🙂

I would only use the wall switch on a Shelly.
Do not connect the inputs to each other.
Only a small current flows through the inputs and this can lead to interference.
There is a risk that the phase may not be identical.
You can send up to 16 commands to other Shelly via the Shelly i4.
Another good option would be the new BLU Wallswitch, which does not require a power supply and is also available as a remote control.

I am not sure I understand, what should I change ?

Connecting 1 shelly to two wall switches is described in the manual ?

Can I ask if this looks right to connect 2 wall switch (2 gang) to a single 2PM ?

The picture with the 2 x WS on a Shelly 1PM is also correct.
Also the 2 x WS on the Shelly 2PM.
My comments were because of your picture.

Gotcha !! .. yeah that was the original sketch to gather info, probably very wrong !!, the subsequent drawings are with better intel 🙂

The other thing I mean is that you should not connect the inputs of 2 Shellys together and then connect ONE WS to them.
Allowed is to connect multiple WS to ONE Shelly
What would be possible is 2 x 2PM next to each other on the same one phase and “split” a WS4
(WS1 & WS2 to Shelly A, WS 3 & WS 4 to Shelly B)

The dotted lines are "virtual" connections, basically I will trigger the other switches via scripts/network from the 4 gang switch.

Ok, but the dotted lines go to the inputs.
Usually you switch the outputs 🙂
(Inputs can be activated, the consumer is usually switched on/off)
