Shellyem firmware update promlem

My shellyem has a firmware from 2021. I can access the device via the Shelley app and via a local IP address. After a restart I am able to check for updated firmware availability with both the app and direct IP connection. When I choose to run the update it fails whether I'm using the app or a direct IP connection. Can anyone suggest a solution please.

I tried running the update from the shelly server using a browser but this didn't work so I downloaded the firmware update from the shelly server (shem.zip) and then uploaded this to Google drive, made it shareable and generated a url link ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-4Igfh24qt_cpzXGfgTdWl5xeL5hYgG-/view?usp=sharing ). I then attempted to run the update from the web browser using the url

http://192.168.1.84/ota?file=https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-4Igfh24qt_cpzXGfgTdWl5xeL5hYgG-/view?usp=sharing

192.168.1.84 is the local ip for the shellyem

this was the displayed json result:-

This did not update the firmware and I note that the "status" above is "pending" rather than completed so maybe I'm missing a step. Any thoughts anyone?

i cannot reply, should get a reply from shelly enginbeering department, but it is not uncommon that aupdates must be made in sequence, so you should need not only the current firmware, but all the previous ones in between, and update one at a time. On many system it is necessary to act this way.

where did you locate this firmware from?

it is not common to need to update the device in a sequence method. Have you tried updating the device via update from shelly update option ?
