Gavin Greenwalt Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I would like to install one of these in a parking lot flood light to allow smarter control. Our electrician is concerned that a wireless relay is a "Switch" and can't be higher than 6' 7". Is it ok to install a wireless smart switch above "accessible" height in the US 2020 Code? Heinz Posted November 20 Posted November 20 @Doug Roberson do you know more about this i'm not too sure what the US 2020 Code would entail Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) Finnish French German Italian Portuguese (European) Spanish
wooly Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I think the code require a maximun height for a switch to be accessible. The maximum height so is not where the sehhelly device is put, byt where the control button is. actually if you control by a remote via wifi it is where the remote is, for sure at an accessible height. Heinz Posted November 21 Posted November 21 makes sense i looked up "US 2020 code" and found to many things that it could be related to so would need more information regarding that code, as I have no idea what the standards would be for the USA Quote Translate Revert translation? Shelly Doug Roberson Posted November 21 Shelly Posted November 21 @Heinz @Gavin Greenwalt I actually had to cover this with a municipal maintenance office in a city in Georgia (which has adopted 2020 NEC as of 2021). In this case, a relay is not a switch, which is considered a toggle or push button intended for manipulation by people. If you wire a switch input to the relay, it MUST be installed at a height accessible by a person. The relay can be installed higher, as needed. Quote Translate Revert translation?
