I have purchased several Shelly door devices and none of them can be found when trying to register them. When I out them in pairing mode I expect it to setup a WiFi network that I can find. However, with all 3 this is not working. I don’t see the WiFi network for any one of them. Am I doing something wrong? 
any pointers are appreciated

Heinz, I also checked with Shelly and it seems that the plugs are old. They are no longer supported. They have asked me where I have purchased them. These are not compatible with the Shelly app itself. They are WiFi enabled but I can’t find them. I’ll return to sender as DOA.

They have been sold as Shelly but I share your thoughts that these are fake. On the back and inside there is no reference to Shelly but to Tuya.
