When wanting to update the shelly Blu device there are two ways that you can use to do this.

Method one update via the Shelly App
The device should be already added onto the account.
Click on the device and then go to the settings page

Click on the Update button. It will request that you click on the device to make sure it is the correct device to that you want to update.

Next is to hold on the device pair button for 10 seconds.

When the device is in pairing mode the device will prompt you to pair the device with your phone

When the Shelly Blu device is paired to your phone you can now update the Device by clicking the update button

Option Two.

Shelly offers a second app for updating or repairing firmware on Blu devices. You can find this app in the App Store of your preferred mobile device. The Application name is "Shelly BLE Debug" download the application and open the application

The app will display a list of all nearby Shelly Blu devices, depending on how many are around you.

The easiest way to update and locate your device is by logging into the Shelly App, selecting the desired Blu device, and copying its MAC address.

Login to the Shelly Ble Debug app and search by MAC as seen below.

Click on the Pair button. It will prompt you put the Shelly device in pair mode and start a timer to assist you
( Make sure you hold the button down firmly and release it before clicking continue)

When done correctly you will be asked to pair the device

image.thumb.jpeg.c0ad7fa70ee6defa4a3391c816d54535.jpeg

Once the device is paired, you’ll be prompted to choose between updating to either "Custom" or "Stock" firmware. Select "Stock" and wait for the device to update to the latest firmware version.

Alternatively, if an update notification appears, simply click "Yes" to proceed with the update or "No" to skip it.

If you've paired with the Shelly device but didn’t receive an update prompt, simply click the "OTA" button to begin updating your Shelly Blu device.

Thanks for the step by step manual for updating Shelly BluH&T

That helps a lot.

But I do have still problems with uptdating Shelly BluH&T from 1.0.16 to 1.0.20

image.thumb.png.798d8b14267f96fac7930be5098b4564.png

With the normal Shelly App the process stops at this stage

When I use the Shelly Debug up

It shows me the following message before uptdating: Device not Shelly

image.thumb.png.586b9370a7eb38c015616a33e9c13743.png

I tried it with a bluetooth connection to to the Shelly  BLU Gateway Gen 3 delivered with the TRV and a normal Shelly bluetooth gateway. Every thing updated and connected to the router and internet.

What could I do?

Thanks

Daniel

I've got exactly the same problem with my H&T as @danibo.  Unable to update the firmware from 1.0.16 via the Shelly app or the Shelly BLE debug app.  It just keeps disconnecting, asking for the button to be pressed again and occassionally come up with that message "the device does not appear to be a Shelly device".

I wonder if all of the "timeout" messages in my log when I read it mean anything to anyone??

Thanks Heinz
I tried as you suggested with a android-tablet and a android-phone.
See the following videos. Everything is connected to the gateway and to the same WLAN Network.

Have you tried this with the Shelly BLE Debug app ?
