richardvinger Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Our house has a Zehnder ComfoFan Silent mechanical ventilation unit. Its ventilation speed can be controlled using a 0-10V dimmer. For this purpose, I've tried using the Shelly Dimmer 0/1-10V PM Gen3, but failed. This is either because I miswired the device or because this Shelly device is simply incompatible with this ventilation unit. Could you help me understand if what I'm trying to do is possible? Attached is an image of the terminals on the mechanical ventilation unit, and an image of the terminals on Shelly Dimmer 0/1-10V PM Gen3. How would I wire these to make this work? For reference, what I've been using so far is the Qubino Flush Dimmer 0-10V, which works flawlessly in terms of controlling the ventilation speed, however, its Z-Wave connection isn't reliable, hence my desire to switch to Shelly over Wi-Fi. Appreciate your help! 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) Finnish French German Italian Portuguese (European) Spanish
Members thgoebel Posted November 8 Members Posted November 8 (edited) How did you wire the Shelly device? There should be no malfunction if correctly wired… Would propose to wire the devices as following: (Shelly mains connection not shown.) richardvinger Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 (edited) I tried several things. In all scenarios, L and N on the Shelly device were directly connected to a power socket obviously. Tried: Ventilation 0...10 Volt DC (input) to 0-10V + on Shelly. Ventilation 0...10 Volt DC (input) to 0-10V + on Shelly AND Ventilation 12 Volt DC (output) to 0-10V - on Shelly. Ventilation 0...10 Volt DC (input) to O on Shelly. There are of course more combinations possible but I'm hesitant to try them all without knowing exactly what I'm doing. Any suggestions from smarter people are very welcome. 😊 Edited November 8 by richardvinger 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? richardvinger Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 @thgoebel Thanks for the drawing, appreciate your time. Sadly, it didn't make a difference, i.e. changing the brightness on the Shelly device doesn't influence the ventilation speed. One thing to point out perhaps is that the Qubino device had its 0-10V on one wire, which corresponds to what the ventilation unit offers, whereas the Shelly device has 0-10V on two wires. Not sure how to deal with that though. 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) Finnish French German Italian Portuguese (European) Spanish
richardvinger Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 @thgoebel Never mind, you were right! I made a mistake in implementing your diagram, but now that I corrected it, everything works as expected. Thanks so much for your help! 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? smjames Posted November 28 Posted November 28 (edited) @richardvinger I am also implementing this on my Zehnder ComfoFan Silent unit with a Shelly Plus dimmer. Any chance you could you provide me with the dipswitch settings on your ComfoFan? My wiring is correct but increasing the brightness isn't changing the fan speed.
