RG77 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Good morning, I can't add my device (Shelly Plus 1 plus and Shelly Plus 2PM) to the shelly smart app. I connect in an underground garage where there is an AP connected in copper to the home router. If I do the same thing at home connected to wifi, i dont have problem. In the garage there is a TPLINK TL-WA860RE in AP mode and at home a simple provider router. If I try to connect to BT it sees the device but can't complete the addition in the app. any ideas? thanks Roberto Quote Translate Revert translation? Heinz Posted November 6 Posted November 6 To confirm the setup and ensure your network functions correctly, here’s a checklist that will help clarify any potential issues. Here’s what to do with the current setup: Verify the Ethernet Connection to the Router : Since your TP-Link TL-WA860RE is connected to the main router via Ethernet, it should be in Access Point (AP) or wired mode if that’s an option. This mode relies on the router connection, so verifying it is crucial. Ping Tests : Router Ping Test : Connect a device (like your laptop) to the TP-Link TL-WA860RE’s Wi-Fi network and try to ping the router’s IP address. This will confirm if the device is communicating with the router. You should receive low latency times and no packet loss. Internet Ping Test : While still connected to the TL-WA860RE, ping a public IP like 8.8.8.8 (Google’s DNS). Successful pings indicate that the extender is providing internet access through the router. SSID Check: Confirm SSID Differences: Verify if the TL-WA860RE and any other extenders (or your main router) are using the same SSID or different SSIDs. If they are the same, devices may struggle to switch between networks; if they are different, it should be easier to test each separately. Network Stability: By running these tests, we’ll know if the problem is with the network configuration or the TL-WA860RE settings before making any device-specific adjustments. These steps will clarify whether the issue is network-related or if further configuration on the TP-Link TL-WA860RE is required. Let me know what you find from the ping tests, and we’ll go from there! 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) Finnish French German Italian Portuguese (European) Spanish
RG77 Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 Danke Heinz First of all thanks for the very fast reply. I will do all the tests requested soon (i'm not at home now) but I think that for points 1 and 2 everything is ok since all the hardware connected to the TP-Link TL-WA860RE work (Tapo C200 Camera, Tapo P115 Smart Plug Tapo and a Smart TV) Sure for point 3 we have a SSID Differences. The TL-WA860RE creates a wifi network called TP-Link_Extender while the source network at home has another SSID. One thing i tried to do is to configure both wifi (1 and 2) on the 2 different wifi lans but that doesn't work either Roberto 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? Heinz Posted November 8 Posted November 8 all good glad you managed to find the issue, very odd that the SSID was created on a open network Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) Finnish French German Italian Portuguese (European) Spanish
