If_then_else Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 What is the difference between the old BLU Gateway and the "new" BLU Gateway Gen3? By the way the link above "Buy Shelly Blu Gateway" only points to the Shelly BLU TRV. On their website there is still the type (old non Gen3) below: Quote Translate Revert translation? For the user, the new processor and the double memory currently have no measurable improvements. I can't imagine that the 8MB instead of 4MB of memory can be used in very large scripts. I hope that other features will also be implemented in this new Gen3 gateway. (virtual component, more BLU options, matter gateway, etc.) Quote Translate Revert translation? Heinz Posted October 21, 2024 Author Posted October 21, 2024 This device already has virtual components and BT home components. The Memory just allows it to store more details. Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) French German Italian Polish Portuguese (European) Spanish
rappel Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Can't find info on Shelly site. Is the USB connection on these gateways simply to provide power for this device? If so, that's great if you have power sockets with USB built in, not so much otherwise. I'm in older house and would prefer e.g. wifi TRVs. Not power dongles in sockets with bluetooth gateways hanging out ready for my grandchildren to see and unplug when they come round leaving me to find out when the room stays cold 6 hours later... What's the direction of Shelly with these things? Are they moving over to BLE for all devices? Can't actually see any consumer benefit unless this means I only need to replace batteries every 3 years rather than every year. Quote Translate Revert translation? wooly Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 An idea would be to offer also a real "shelly" version of the GW, that is one that stay in the wall-box, supplied at 220AC , possibly with the extra input for switches and thermometer. An UNI3 without real output [only firtual for compatiobility with the UNI] but with the gateway capabilities. 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? I agree, the Signal to Shelly BLU TRV are week at best and having the ability to install units like Shelly 1pm Gen3 or Shelly pm mini Gen3 would be nice to strengthen the bluetooth signal so less battery usage on the TRV's Quote Translate Revert translation? richalt2 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Could you consider offering an Android driver? This driver will appear to apps as a Bluetooth radio, but will send/receive all packets via internet to your gateway device at another location. This Android gateway driver then allows any app to operate a physically remote Bluetooth thing. Not for audio of course, but great for low bandwidth things! Quote Translate Revert translation? richalt2 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Of course this driver needs an Android control app to establish connection to the remote Shelly gateway device. This scheme is like vpn configuration.
