Conchas
I've a "Shelly Duo - RGBW E27" bulb that has been offline and stuck in blue for a long time. My experience is that when Shelly devices become offline, almost always it turns into a nightmare to solve... so I let it go for a couple of months... I've factory reseted the bulb (more than once) and rebooted the device (more than once), via direct wifi access to the device. Removed and added it to phone app (more than once). It remains always Pending Connection or Offline... Is there any solution to resolve this? Preferably one that avoids digging into the home router searching for IPs or making them static, as I'm not a network pro. Was willing just that it works via simple and reliable steps from the app, or device wifi access at most... Thanks, Fernando Quote Translate Revert translation? Members thgoebel
Did some investigation to explore the „stuck in blue“ syndrome: https://www.smarthome-forum.eu/thread/26186-shelly-duo-rgbw-gu10-suche-nach-der-ursache-des-standard-fehlers/ (To see the pictures, please log in with your old credentials for www.shelly-support.eu/!) Obviously, it is a hardware failure: A capacitor dried out, due to excessive heat. Edited September 21 by thgoebel Quote Translate Revert translation? Moderators terae Posted September 21 Moderators Share Posted September 21 I have had the same randomly with couple of E27 versions. Could not be dried out capacitor, those have now worked for months after last time. Or if it is, it's anyway some interference which causes it to reset factory defaults. Members thgoebel
With the E27 model it is not a capacitor: https://www.smarthome-forum.eu/thread/26198-teardown-shelly-duo-rgbw-9w-e27/ The capacitor issue is with the GU10 model only, as you may have recognised in the above linked teardown article. Conchas
I probably did not expressed myself in the most correct way! When I wrote that the bulb as been stuck in blue, this was because the device appeard offline at Shelly App, so I had no easy way to control anything. Also the bulb was bearly used, hence no big reason for it to become deffective or its components. Today amidst factory resets and reboots, deletes from the app and additions, I just still cant connect to this device via app (always 'Pending Connection' or 'Offline'). If connectig directly to the device via WiFi, I can control every parametir of it, including color and intensity. Likely it was always possible. I just didn't try. At moment I just want to this 'Pending Connection' status and be able to connct/control via Shelly app. Any help would be welcome! Thanks, Fernando Quote Translate Revert translation? Moderators terae Posted September 22 Moderators Share Posted September 22 It's about app then. Try to delete from app (only app, no reset) the old association and then find it from lan (same wifi) with add by IP or discoveried devices list if found there. Should work ok then. If not, make sure you have latest firmware first. Quote Translate Revert translation? Conchas
After really many attempts I manage to get it added and working again... until the next time it stucks offline... 🤪 I think it is not a matter of adding it by IP, which I did not, because the app actually finds it most of the time. It just ends in a weird state ("Pending Connection"). This really makes me wonder... For instance only once I was able to find the device via "Scan network". All the oter times it was only possible to find it using the "Add via Wi-Fi (AP Scan) method... Not that I understand the difference from the two, but it looks this is the recomended for gen 1 devices like Shelly DUO - RGW. But it finally worked, once! Quote Translate Revert translation? Heinz
glad it worked just to give some info don't he Add by scan network and add by AP Scan AP scan = add device via the SSID the Shelly device sends out. network scan = add the device that is all ready included into the network Quote Translate Revert translation?
