Christian67
Hi all, The last installed shelly EM is since few days offline! I have removed it, made a factory reset and reinstalled it few times and it's stil offline. The apps indicate connected but with a message that ".. you can't connect it to an open network...". It isn't open, it works with the other shellys. What's happening, ideas? Thanks for the help. Christian
Heinz
did you do a factory reset from the device or application? Maybe try adding the device into the network via the web console of the device see the screen show below
Christian67
Hi Heinz, Thanks for the reply, 10s shelly buttons + via apps + Web UI. The strange point is that, on one side, it seems to be connected -> green with IP adress, and on the other is offline. 2 others works well. Attached 2 screenshots Thanks Christian
Heinz
does the offline device have an ip address It could be that the device has the cloud setting disabled so that would then not show online in the app. Try and see if you can login to the device via the WebUI with the Ipaddress of the device. Then check that the device is updated and enable the cloud. if the device is still offline in your app delete it from the app and add it again via the "add with IP address" option then it should be good to go
Christian67
The app indicate an IP adress, but can't join it like the other shellys. It was online, and is offline since I restarted internet 3 days ago. BR Christian
Heinz
Try go into the device via the IP address with a browser. you can confirm if the device is responding to you using CMD to ping the IP address and see if you get a response. If you get a response with the Ping command then you should be able to login to the device via the browser. If you don't get a response make sure the device is online and login to your router and find the IP address with in the network devices from the router. When you reset the device most times you will need to remove it from the app and rebind it to the account even when you readded it into the network. Christian67
I checked and the routeur has not saved the ip address indicated by the shelly app. -> mean the installation failed, even if he is indicated connected in the app, strange!
Heinz
So with the DHCP server on the router, it would provide the device an IP address when it's added to the network. In the App, it will display the last known IP address the device was connected to before it goes off-line. This is why it's best to check on the router to find the device to check what IP address it was given to see if it's online. In the App, you can delete the device and select the last option "scan network" it should then find the device when it's connected to the network: This only happens when the device is not in the app already. It's a slight pain, but this is the easiest method when the device has been deleted in the app and is connected to the network. Then you can log in to the device directly and then add it to the app via the IP address. Otherwise, when the device is connected to the power source, and you have reset it with holding the button on the back of the device for 10–15 seconds you should then see the SSID/Wi-Fi of the device display in the Wi-Fi list. If you have reset the device, and you have it plugged it and nothing is displayed then yeah could be that the device is faulty
