Unable to set WiFi connection

I have two brand new Plus devices 1PM and 2PM.

After I set either the 1st or 2nd Wifi SSID, the AP stops working properly. Both devices permanently disconnect within 3..10 seconds. It looks like they are always re-booting or so.

When I factory reset them by pressing the backside button, the AP mode works again. Can it be that both are bad?

I also have two Gen3 devices, but they work properly.
