Adrian Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Hello, first I would like to thank you for this fantastic device. I have been able to install it, add it to Home Assistant, upgrade the firmware, and operate my window blinds without issues. It was a really smooth experience and I wanted to give the recognition it deserves. My only feedback is that after installing the device, I'm experiencing a short delay (maybe 0.5 seconds?) between pressing the physical switch and the operation of the motor. I've seen this support article (https://support.shelly.cloud/en/support/solutions/articles/103000217433-wave-devices-delay-between-switch-and-output), which explains why this delay was added, that most users didn't like the approach, and how it was removed in new firmware released for the devices. In the firmware page for the Wave devices (https://support.shelly.cloud/en/support/solutions/articles/103000258471-shelly-qubino-wave-firmware-updates#Shelly-Qubino-Wave Shutter), I can see in the changelog that the delay was removed for Wave 1, 1PM, and 2PM, but not for Wave Shutter. Despite not seeing it in the changelog, I tried and upgraded my Wave Shutter device, but the delay is still there. I'd like to ask if it's possible to release a new firmware for the Wave Shutter that removes this delay. In my opinion, having that instant feedback loop when touching a physical switch will make the user experience much better. Thank you! Quote Translate Revert translation? Shelly Shelly Wave help Posted July 19, 2024 Shelly Posted July 19, 2024 The Shutter firmware was based on the Qubino Shutter firmware, which did not have a 0.5-second delay. The firmware was ported from series 500 to series 800 with minimal alterations. Therefore, the change log does not mention the removal of the delay. I have noted your suggestion for future releases. The firmware team will review the code, and if they identify any factors causing a delay, we will address and remove them. 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? Shelly Shelly Wave help Posted July 22, 2024 Shelly Posted July 22, 2024 We have in plan to release an improved Shutter version (hopefully this year). We will definitely look into the delay at that time and like mentioned remove any part of firmware if we found that can cause the delay. Having Home Assistant as your controller will not make miss you this update 😉 And if you see that also that time will have any delay feel free to write to us. 2 Quote Translate Revert translation? Thanks this information. Just to be sure, with a new shutter version do you mean a new firmware update, or a new hardware revision? I'm looking forward to this upgrade, because other than this delay, the shutter is working flawlessly. 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? Something Weird Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 I have run into the same situation. The Shelly Qubino Wave Shutter in my setup work flawlessly and the reaction via software buttons is near instant but with the hardware "inputs" there is noticeable delay even with the latest 12.23 firmware. Is there a rough ETA for the fix? Thanks in advance! 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) French German Italian Polish Portuguese (European) Spanish
Shelly Shelly Wave help Posted October 15, 2024 Shelly Posted October 15, 2024 We know about the 0,5 seconds delay between the press of the button and the execution of the command. We have the plan to remove it in the future updates, but can't tell you the estimated time when this will be done. 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? Something Weird Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Hey there, is there any news on the topic? Last firmware update was in August 2024. I am not complaining, just wondering whether we will have an update soon? Really, really looking forward getting rid of the 0.5s delay. Quote Translate Revert translation? Adrian Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Hey @Shelly Wave help, I haven't seen any new firmware being announced since your last message. This delay continues to be frustrating and impacts usability. Could you provide an update on whether this issue is still on your roadmap and if there’s any estimated timeframe for a fix? Thank you. Shelly Shelly Wave help Posted February 18 Shelly Posted February 18 Actually this is not an issue but a wanted delay that we initially program to differentiate the inclusion by switch from the commands, later on we reprogram the way we detect the inclusion the switch devices and leave the shutter for the second stage where we will add more improvements in which we will also remove the delay. We hope to have this ready for the end or Q2 of this year. Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) French German Italian Polish Portuguese (European) Spanish
Something Weird Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Hey there, I’ve noticed that the firmware update page for the Wave devices has recently been updated. Unfortunately, the firmware update for the Wave Shutter is still not available. I understood that a release was targeted for the end of Q2. Is there still hope for an upcoming update? The 0.5-second delay, while understood to be “by design,” remains quite frustrating in daily use. I would really appreciate any update or feedback regarding this. Thank you in advance! 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) French German Italian Polish Portuguese (European) Spanish
Shelly Shelly Wave help Posted July 8 Shelly Posted July 8 A new firmware for the Shutter is planned to be released in the beginning of Q4. 1 Quote Translate Revert translation? English (American) French German Italian Polish Portuguese (European) Spanish
