Oh yeah, what a pain...
I had the hope to just create a button on the display, give it a name, and it will appear in the iobroker adapter. And on top show the status, so once it's changed somewhere else, the button on the WD also updates.
Neiter of them seems to work currently 😮
So I will try with webhooks, controlling the target shelly directly, and hope that there is a way to get feedback from this shelly.

nope not so easy, may @Dimitar Buckoff plan an integration as you mention.

@FPVZaphod you see the same http request error from WD for some messages?

The Wall Display DOES report button:2xx pushes to Mqtt on '/events/rpc'. It does not currently report virtual components in Shelly.GetStatus and Shelly.GetConfig, which is in err and will be fixed soon, but even after adding them, the ioBroker.Shelly adapter does not recognise them (I checked the source of the adapter). Nevertheless, the touch events of the virtual button can not be broadcast via status, they can only be broadcast via events. As @FPVZaphod mentioned, it is safe to use webhooks.

Which adapter are you using? If it's ioBroker.shelly, it does not support virtual components in WD at all.

Hello

Anyone have the sonos Roam linked to the shelly wall display? I'm able to see the speaker but I can't select this device to be the output device for the audio ... online radio or MP3 files.

By the way the new device shelly dali dimmer GEN 3 are not available to by selected to add as a controlled device on the shelly wall display, is this normal? Or in the future this device is to be included?

Thank you

Hi,

is there an option to configure the Wall Display to remove humidity, power consumption and temperature default items? That would allow more customization as the display seems to have SO much potential!

Arrived yesterday, and even after 5min with it Shelly convinced me that this thing is better than my Sonoff panel 🙂

And if you could drop everything but the clock from the screensaver that would be awesome.

Dear all,

We are happy to release completely re-designed Shelly Wall Display UI. On top of that we added more features as: Weather and Music player for MP3 files + Radio streaming. For maximum music experience we recommend you to pair you Wall Display with an external Bluetooth speaker.

THIS IS A BETA VERSION !!! You may lose stored data and may need to make a factory reset. Please report all discovered bug in comments of this thread.

How to update:

  1. Use device UI and update it to Beta version.
  2. Attention: After the update the device screen may stay black for a while - DO NOT REBOOT, then you will see the new UI.
  3. Enjoy

Managing display UI:

There are 2 different tile sizes - Single (50% of screen height) and Double (100% of screen height). You can change card size later for all tiles except for Music and Weather.

You can add to your home screen: Device tiles, Scene tiles, Group tiles, Virtual button tiles, Weather tile and Music player tile.

To do that you need to swipe from top of the screen and choose "+" button. Then follow the on-screen instructions.

To re-arrange card position, change the card or delete it, choose "Pen" icon, then the icon related to the action you want to perform.

How to set weather:

  1. Scroll down from the top of the screen, choose a "+" and then choose Weather.
  2. Now you have the Weather tile on your home screen. This tile can not be resized.
  3. You can only have one tile of this type on your home screen.
  4. Press "..." on the right-bottom of the tile to see detailed forecast information.
  5. You can also force update the forecast if the automatic update failed for some reason.

How to set and use music player:

  1. On you home screen swipe down from the top, choose "+" and then choose Music.
  2. Now you have the Music player tile on your home screen. This tile can not be resized.
  3. You can only have one tile of this type on your home screen.
  4. Press "..." on the right-bottom of the card to browse more than 55000 radio stations separated by country. You can also search for particular radio stations.
  5. If you want to search for a radio station in a specific country, add its name to the end of your query (e.g. "Magic Bulgaria" or "Magic bg").
  6. Currently no other streaming services are supported but we will add them in the future.
  7. There is option to upload your favourite MP3 files directly. To do that you need to open Web UI by IP address. Go to Media and Drag and Drop files. At the moment you need to do that one by one. Upload multiple files at same time will be supported in the future.
  8. Please keep in mind that the more MP3 files you upload, the longer the Media Library will load. If you upload too many files, this may affect the application startup.

You can discover more by yourself. Enjoy!

After evaluation from you, this beta will go live for everyone.

Hi,

great new Software and your description for adding virtual components is great. It works on my machine.:-)

So, I have the virtual button on the Wall Display, but neither in the app nor in my HA. I want to do the same thing the guy in the video is doing. With the Pro 1 it seems to work. Is there a difference between the Wall Display and the Pro1 regarding virtual components? I am a newbie and if this is the wrong channel I kindly ask for the right one.

Virtual components created in the wall display are actually showned in Home Assistant, but it does not show up as an entity. Instead it shows as an event.

You can find the info you need by listening for an shelly.click event in Developer Tools in HA

You can then create an action based on that data.

I have made a video about it. although it's in danish i do think it is explained just bu looking at the video 🙂

It would be really important to have a feedback via mqtt to the virtual button, to show it's state. Running Homeassistant is not an Option for me, as I extensively use iobrokers scripting, and HASS is just not made for that. Sending states and events from the WD over HASS to iobroker would be just administrative overkill, pity that there is no simple way to offer the whole iobroker device tree to homeassistant.
The next I will try is to use the WD Homeassistant Integration, but point it to the iobroker lovelace frontend. Maybe this gets displayed in the Wall Display, if I reverse-proxy Port 8123 (HASS) to the matching URL on port 8091 (iobroker)?
I hope there will be a direct way via iobroker-shelly adapter soon!

Hi, been trying firmware b4, seems good so far.

Have som small things:

- There seems to be a "bug" with the screen auto off timer.

When using the screen (finger is on screen), it still dims down (5 sec delay), and even if scrolling, the timer for screensaver starts even though the finger is on the screen and shuts the screen off.

- "Turn off screen when idle" setting disappear when choosing to turn off "Screen Auto brightness"

Please keep the setting available, sometimes we need to set custom screen brightness but we want the screen to turn off aswell.

- A a timer for the "dim screen" would be really great, 5 sec as now is a bit fast, could we get a setting for it?

Keep it up!

Hi all,

I am testing two wall displays as thermostats with 2.3-beta5. The devices are getting more stable with every beta (still some reboots necessary from time to time when screens lag).

Some remarks:

1. Please support other home automation systems (my main system is openHAB). Since Home Assistant integration is nothing more than a web interface this should not be a problem. Easiest way would be to allow to display any URL. It is very good that the footer is now removed when Home Assistant is displayed.

2. Please allow the removal of the power tile (W) on the main screen. It is useless in many scenarios. In my opinion the main screen should be removable completely.

3. Please allow more virtual components (not only buttons) which should be fully configurable with MQTT or a Home Automation system.

4. Internal temperature sensor is completely useless because of the internal heating of the device.

5. Weather and radio tiles should use the full width of the screen.

Nevertheless good work so far. Looking forward to future versions. Panel way better than Sonoff NSPanel.

Many thanks Ronni, great video. It worked for me. For some reason I didn't get a response in the HA developer tools section even though the triggered event was visible in the device log. One day later it worked. Now I have created the following automation: Virtual Button --> Shelly Wall Display --> HA --> Switchbot Remote IR --> Patio Heater. The reason why I set up HA in the first place.

Dear Shelly,
I was wondering whether you are planning do add support for Spotify on the Shelly Wall Display?
The smart speakers and bluetooth speakers in my house are not Sonos. But I do use Spotify for all my music listening, so would be really cool to have Spotify in there 🙂
I'm loving these Shelly Wall Displays, I bought 5 so far!

I’m guessing the consumption figure top right on the display is the consumption of the switch output of the wall display? It’s always 0W for me and I’m not using the switch part of the wall display.

It would be really nice if the top right “consumption” square would be configurable to show my Shelly Pro 3EM instead.

Happy New Year! & thanks for the great Shelly products!

@Dimitar Buckoff Which radio server list is used on WD?
I read in this thread that you filtered out the AAC+ stations, so it's probably a custom one... But which is the original one? 🙂

My issue is, that one of my favorite station changed the Icecast streaming port. So it won't play any more :((. The WD still lists the station (as favourite) but I can't find it anymore (browsing trough country list or searching).

Can I somehow put a new "custom" station? Or suggest an online update for the original radio list service, which will be propagated to your list?

2) I have 2 Sony bluetooth speakers hooked up to the WD (in stereo mode), but as I see now we have only 10 sound levels. Which are also synced with BT speakers, so it's too loud or too quiet. Can we have 20 or 25 levels?

3) also when you miss swiping the volum bar the music is stopped 😞 ... can the volum bar be separated from the media playing part of the tile?

Thanks!

Hello all and Happy New Year!

Can anyone help me decide to use or not to use the shelly wall display on my pool area to control all pool related things ?

It will not have direct contact with water, is far from the water, but since it's a indoor pool, sometimes there is a lot of humidity, 80% or more till the humidifiers start getting it in control, and they are allready controled by shelly.

I know it's not ideal solution, but could it work for some years at least ? 😊

Thanks for the feedback

The only thing i'm able to find is in the intallation manual: "do not install where it can get wet". I'm not sure if they mean wet like in "direct contact" with water but a very high humidity is never good for electronics. That said: I have been using a Google Nest speaker for years now in my bathroom and it's still working. Humidity rises almost every day once to 70% or more.

In my experience, humidity is a real problem when an room shifts from cold to hot or the device is in a place where it's cold and gets into contact with the hot humid air. Because the condens that "sticks to" the device can be a real problem. I'm not electrical engineer but i think it will last you a couple of years. Offcourse, someone who knows what he is talking about, can gladly correct me 😄

Thanks for the reply.

The air temperature does not flutuate too much, just 2C to 3C in winter when there is more humidity, and also there is no drafts.

I will try it ☺️
